Watchlist Privacy Policy

PRIVACY POLICY FOR WATCHLISTLast updated: 7 September 2026Watchlist ("the App") is developed by Matt Rose. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.INFORMATION WE COLLECTAccount information: When you sign in with Apple or with your email address, we receive an email address (which may be a private Apple relay address) used to create and secure your account.Profile information: Your username, display name, bio, and avatar (an emoji or a photo you upload) are visible to other signed-in users, as is any content described below.Your watchlist activity: Films and shows you add to your watchlist or archive, your ratings, and any "Picks" lists you create are stored against your account so they sync across your devices and, where you choose to follow other users or be followed, can be shown to them.Social activity: Who you follow and who follows you, any accounts you block, and any reports you file are stored against your account. If you block someone, neither of you can see the other's profile or content, and any existing follow between you is removed automatically.Support messages: If you contact us from within the App, we receive the message you write, the email address you give us (or your account email), and basic technical details about your device — the App version, your iOS version, your device model, and your region. These help us reproduce problems. We do not include your watchlist, lists, or ratings with a support message.Usage data: We collect information about how the App is used, so we know which parts to improve. This is described in "Analytics and session recordings" below. We also receive anonymous, aggregated data through Apple's own App Store analytics, which cannot be used to identify you individually.INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECTWe do not collect payment information, precise location, or contacts. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.THIRD-PARTY SERVICESFilm and show details are provided by The Movie Database (TMDB) API. TMDB's own privacy policy applies to that data: https://www.themoviedb.org/privacy-policyAccount data and app content are stored using Supabase, our backend provider, which stores data securely on our behalf.Sign in with Apple is used for authentication where you choose it, governed by Apple's own privacy policy. We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to understand how the App is used. See "Analytics and session recordings" below.Support messages are delivered to us by email using Resend, an email delivery provider.ANALYTICS AND SESSION RECORDINGSWe use PostHog to understand how people use Watchlist, so we know which parts of the App to improve. This involves two things. The first is event analytics: a record of actions taken in the App, such as opening it or sending a support message. These events are not linked to your account, they are tied to an anonymous identifier generated on your device, and we do not connect them to your name, email address, or watchlist. The second is session recordings. PostHog captures a visual replay of App screens as they are used, which lets us see where people get stuck. Sign-in screens and the support form are masked, so your email address, your sign-in code, and anything you write to us are never captured in a recording. Recordings are stored in the EU and deleted after 30 days.We do not use analytics for advertising, we do not sell this data, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks.HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATIONWe use the information above to operate the App's core features: syncing your watchlist across devices, showing your profile and content to people who follow you, enabling you to follow, block, and report other users, providing customer support when you contact us, and understanding how the App is used so we can improve it.DELETING YOUR ACCOUNTYou can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile > Delete Account within the App. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, watchlist, ratings, picks, follows, and any reports you filed. If you signed in with Apple, deleting your account also revokes the App's access via your Apple ID. This action cannot be undone.CHILDREN'S PRIVACYThe App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.YOUR RIGHTSIf you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the App (editing your profile, or deleting your account), or by contacting us using the details below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe your data has been mishandled.SECURITYWe use industry-standard measures, including row-level access controls on our database, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately.CHANGES TO THIS POLICYWe may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above.CONTACTQuestions about this policy, or to exercise your data rights, contact: [email protected]---TERMS OF USE FOR WATCHLISTLast updated: 7 September 2026These Terms of Use govern your use of Watchlist ("the App"), developed by Matt Rose. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these terms.YOUR ACCOUNTYou must provide accurate information when creating your account and are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and any activity that happens under it.YOUR CONTENTYou retain ownership of the watchlists, ratings, and Picks lists you create. By posting content visible to other users (such as a public profile or a Pick), you grant us a license to display that content within the App to the users you've allowed to see it (for example, your followers).ZERO TOLERANCE FOR OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT AND ABUSIVE BEHAVIOURWe do not tolerate content or behaviour on Watchlist that is illegal, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that impersonates another person.
